I need guy advice on my boyfriend?

been played wow too many times and I get fearful to trust my heart with anyone. I started seeing this guy who says he loves me and I'm the most important thing to him, super affectionate when I'm with him. The problem is he lives far away (1.5 hours drive) and seeing him is not so easy. I really miss him all the time but when I call him he seems to be fine...I ask him does he miss me and he says yes or of course I do. He hardly calls or texts and had chances to see me but thinks if one of us it sick or he has work the next day he shouldn't come over.... Fair enough but what I'm confused about is if he really wanted to see me he would rain, hail or shine. I talk to him about this and he said I do feel all that but i just don't show it. Do you think I'm thinking way too much into this? do guys really hide their feelings?
