Why does risperdal make me become a brainless zombie?

Risperidone (risperdal) as with nearly all anti psychotics has sedating properties as a side effect. Other common side effects is insomnia, muscle stiffness and weight gain, all of which would go in some way to feel 'zombie-ish'.
